Job Summary:
Oversee the repair, maintenance, and operation of all our fitness facilities. This is a hands-on, full-time role that requires experience with HVAC systems, electrical and mechanical repairs, and fitness equipment maintenance. Pool maintenance experience is a strong bonus. CPO Certification will also be required. If you're a problem-solver with a strong technical background, we want you on our team
Perform all necessary repairs and maintenance for all Workout Club locations as well as new construction and renovation projects. Responsible for managing all outside contractors, vendors, and housekeeping staff. Performance of building maintenance tasks in one or more fields (e.g., Carpentry; drywall, framing, painting, electrical; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, mechanical, etc.). Responsible for performing all pool mechanical maintenance. Responsible for performing all fitness equipment preventative maintenance, repairs, and part replacements. Perform other tasks as assigned. Ability to respond to emergency facility issues and flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for special projects. Our Maintenance Technician is crucial at The Workout Club. They ensure the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of equipment and facilities, directly impacting member experience and operational success. You'll handle preventive maintenance, perform repairs on fitness equipment, and collaborate with your facilities team and across departments.
Job Description & Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily maintenance checks on all club facilities and equipment
- Diagnose and repair HVAC systems (commercial experience preferred)
- Handle electrical and mechanical repairs across the facility
- Maintain and repair gym equipment (cardio, strength, free weights)
- Support pool and spa maintenance as needed
- Collaborate with Regional and Club Manager on priorities and projects
- Organize and establish a Preventative Maintenance Plan, Schedule, and Log
- Ensure club safety, cleanliness, and operational standards are met
- Manage contractor and vendor work to ensure thoroughness and quality of their work
- Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues
- Coordinate and manage mechanical, electrical, plumbing, glass, and carpentry repairs, in addition to any other needed facility related items at each location in assigned region.
- Conduct weekly walkthroughs of assigned locations to ensure the club meets company and departmental standards as well as all safety guidelines.
- Identify, bid out, and manage capital projects once approved by department management.
- For after-hours work, plan to visit the site and coordinate all special security requirements as directed.
- Available to supervise work during nights and weekends as needed, requested, or required
- Develops the scope of work for; and manages quarterly refresh projects at each assigned location
- Manage annual repair and maintenance budgets for each location as well as individual project budgets to ensure compliance and spending diligence.
- Prepare work orders and issue purchase orders through Service Channel, our web-based work order system, in a timely fashion
- Approve and process invoices for work performed through Service Channel.
- Update active projects on a weekly basis using FPS (our facilities project system).
- On call 24/7 for the coordination and resolve of emergency situations.
- Respond to general, non-emergency facility emails within 24 hours as they apply to special club requests.
- Attend staff meetings as conducted by department management or as requested.
- Operate with a sense of urgency to correct issues that impact our member experience.
Pool Maintenance/Operation:
- Operates, repairs, maintains, and cleans mechanical equipment for pool operation including water filtration and chemical purification systems, intake and outlet valves, chemical feeders, pumps, compressors, seals, vacuum equipment, and chlorine metering devices; regulates water temperature, levels, and implements preventive maintenance program for pool operation.
- Coordinates walk-through inspections of pool facility and takes necessary corrective action; oversees shut down for annual and emergency maintenance procedures; monitors pool operations, sanitation codes, stores chemicals, sanitizes swim decks.
- Tests and maintains pool chemical levels, tests, and services safety equipment.
- Develop a working, firsthand knowledge of Chemtrol/Becs units, chem. lines and backwash procedures.
- Responsible for procuring chemical and pool supplies at the best price possible.
Qualifications:
- Proven HVAC experience (required)
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Experience with fitness equipment maintenance
- Pool maintenance knowledge is a plus.
- CPO Certification will also be required
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Team player with excellent communication abilities
- Diagnose, repair, and replace a variety of HVAC systems and components
- Complete installation of new units when necessary
- Develop an appropriate preventative maintenance schedule for all HVAC system equipment and perform maintenance accordingly
- Work with the Maintenance Team at each club location to ensure HVAC systems are operating properly and always remain in good repair
- Interpret and apply electrical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and wiring diagrams
- Ensure available resources for HVAC maintenance and repair by managing refrigerant levels and parts inventory; tracking and ordering HVAC parts through approved company channels
Required
- Ability to work varied hours and weekends if needed
- Previous experience working with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Access to reliable transportation with the ability to travel between properties during the workday
- Proficient mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain fitness facility equipment and systems
- 2 years’ Experience in a mechanical, electrical, or plumbing (MEP) trade or related role
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred Technical school graduate or attendee
- Working knowledge of commercial HVAC, Electrical, Lighting and Plumbing systems
- Previous experience working with a Building Management System (BMS)/Environmental Monitoring System (EMS) control systems
Physical requirements:
- Able to read, write, and speak clearly in English
- Bending, kneeling, and repetitive arm movement
- Standing for long periods
- Ability to lift and move at least 100 lbs
- Ability to remain in standing, stationary, or moving for prolonged periods
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Regularly exposed to pool chemicals, cleaning supplies, and grease/oil
- Use of a ladder and roof access
