Position Summary
The Facilities Technician – Healthcare Facilities is responsible for performing general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep across multiple clinical sites within an assigned region. Working independently, this role ensures that all facilities are safe, well-maintained, and fully operational to support high-quality patient care. The Facilities Technician handles a wide range of general maintenance tasks, including painting, basic plumbing, minor electrical repairs, carpentry, and equipment upkeep, while coordinating with specialized vendors for work outside the general maintenance scope.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform routine maintenance tasks including painting, drywall repair, basic plumbing, carpentry, and minor electrical work.
- Troubleshoot and repair facility-related issues to minimize downtime and disruption to clinical operations.
- Inspect and maintain building systems, fixtures, and equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Conduct preventative maintenance per established schedules to extend the life of facility assets.
Work Order & Project Management
- Manage and prioritize work orders across multiple clinical sites within the assigned region.
- Complete maintenance requests in a timely manner, documenting work performed and materials used.
- Coordinate with the Regional Facilities Manager to plan and execute small-scale repair or improvement projects.
- Escalate complex repairs or issues requiring licensed contractors to management for vendor coordination.
Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with external service providers for specialized repairs, ensuring work meets quality and safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with clinical site managers and staff regarding maintenance activities and timelines.
- Ensure minimal disruption to patient care during maintenance work.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety guidelines, healthcare facility protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment both on-site and in maintenance storage areas.
- Report facility hazards or safety concerns promptly.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3–5 years of general maintenance experience, preferably in a commercial or healthcare setting.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in general building maintenance tasks (painting, plumbing, carpentry, basic electrical).
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve common facility issues.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance equipment.
- Other Skills:
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective communication and customer service skills for working in active healthcare environments.
- Ability to work independently across multiple sites.
Work Environment
- Regular travel within the assigned region to support multiple clinical facilities.
- Requires physical activity including lifting, bending, standing, and working with tools or equipment.
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
