General Description:

The Horticulture Maintenance teammate performs all duties associated with the maintenance and care of our landscape ornamentals and club lawns, under the supervision of the Manager of Horticulture. Duties will consist of installations, maintenance and care of woody and herbaceous plant material, annual color, and turf. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs a wide range of landscape maintenance tasks important to the preservation, protection, and display of our landscape beds, including but not limited to soil preparation, planting, transplanting, mulching, weeding, irrigation, fertilizing, pesticide application, tree work, etc.
  • Exercises quality mowing, string trimming, and stick edging.
  • Maintains care of horticultural tools, equipment, and Club property.
  • Ensures that all applicable safety standards are followed. Adapts or modifies work methods to reduce hazards. Reports accidents and injuries.
  • Works with a low-pressure irrigation system which includes replacing nozzles, replacing heads, and recognizing ineffective stations.
  • Seed and fertilize the clubhouse lawns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree, Certification, or working toward either in horticulture or a closely related field is preferred but not required.
  • Current state certification or ability to obtain licensing as a pesticide applicator is preferable but not required.
  • This is an entry-level position. Prefer at least one year of experience using tools commonly used in grounds maintenance such as push mower, riding mower, string trimmer, etc.
  • Must be able to safely operate multiple pieces of landscape machinery including but not limited to, push mowers, edgers, deck mowers, weed eaters, lifts, skid steers, tractors, and trailers. Training will be provided.


Physical Requirements:

  • Constantly walks, stands, reaches, bends, lifts, carriers, and stoops
  • Use of hands to operate equipment and machinery
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Raise a 15 lb. box over your head
  • Climb a ladder
  • Work outside all year long


Hours/Schedule:

This is a full-time position working 40 hours a week typically Monday through Friday with every other or every third-weekend work required. Hours are typically 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 5:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. depending on the time of year.
