Human Resources Assistant Generalist

As we continue to pursue new goals, it's an exciting time to join the Bragg team. We are currently hiring an HR Assistant Generalist in our Long Beach, CA headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leave Administration: Oversee the entire leave administration process, from initial notice to return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and managing intermittent and reduced schedule leave use.
  • Onboarding and Offboarding: Facilitate a smooth transition for new hires and departing employees by managing all onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Recruiting: Assist our Recruiter in the hiring process, manage job postings, screen candidates, conduct interviews, and handle onboarding in line with company objectives.
  • Employee Relations: Address general employee-related inquiries regarding time, PTO, benefits, etc., and refer complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Recommend best practices and review policies to maintain compliance.
  • Knowledge Maintenance: Stay current with trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: 3 years of experience working in human resources or leave administration. Possess working knowledge of HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, and labor law compliance.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, as well as proficiency with HRIS systems.
  • Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information professionally and confidentially. Detail-oriented and able to multitask effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certification: HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
  • Industry Knowledge: Previous experience in the construction, industrial services, or manufacturing industry.

Work Environment

  • Physical Conditions: Standard office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. May occasionally require standing or moving between office areas.
