Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care for animals in our facility. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the well-being of the pets in our care, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and assisting with various tasks related to animal care and customer service. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about animals and have experience in pet care or veterinary settings.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for dogs and other animals, including feeding, bathing, and exercising.
- Maintain cleanliness of the kennel area, including cleaning cages, kennels, and common areas.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff.
- Assist with animal restraint during examinations or treatments as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners regarding their pets' needs and well-being.
- Support dog training sessions and help with basic obedience training as required.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed to protect both animals and staff.
Skills
- Proficient in animal restraint techniques to ensure the safety of both pets and personnel.
- Experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a kennel environment is highly desirable.
- Strong customer service skills to interact positively with pet owners and provide them with updates on their pets.
- Knowledge of general pet care practices, including feeding, grooming, and exercise routines.
- Familiarity with veterinary procedures and terminology is a plus.
- Ability to handle dogs of various breeds and temperaments confidently.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively within a team environment.
