The Pace Haub Law Legal Hand Call In Center seeks two students to work as co-Coordinator(s) to work in the Legal Hand Call-In Center serving Westchester County. Reporting to the Center Attorney, the coordinator(s) are responsible for the operation of the Legal Hand Call-In Center; for the administration of the Legal Hand Center, including recruitment, training and management of the Legal Hand Center Volunteers, as well as outreach to the community; for maintenance of Center technology; and for Center record keeping and reports.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Work with the Center Attorney, oversee the daily operations of the Call-In Center;
Recruit Volunteers to participate in the Legal Hand program every six months or as needed;
Organize Volunteer calendar and staffing;
Work with the Director and Staff attorney to supervise Volunteers as they provide guidance, offer information, and assist Visitors, including some evening and weekend hours;
Screen cases that should be referred to the Center Attorney for legal representation by legal services organizations or bar associations, and work with the Center Attorney to establish policies and procedures for legal referrals;
Conduct outreach on an ongoing basis for new Volunteers and Visitors;
Create relationships and partnerships with local community-based organizations, local officials, and legal services organizations;
Organize virtual professional development training for Volunteers and virtual Know Your Rights workshops for the community;
Maintain policy and procedure for data collection, recording, and reporting using Legal Hand Inc.’s record-keeping systems, and the Kustomer platform.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, pursuing their JD and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a related area.
The candidate must be a skilled communicator, with excellent writing skills, able to work in multi-disciplinary settings, and able to maintain strong relationships with multiple agencies and organizations in the community.
Position Type: Part-time, evening, and weekend hours required. (2L and 3L preferred)
Legal Hand is open Monday through Saturday. Some evening and weekend hours may be required as a part of a regular work week. Exact hours to be determined with supervisor, generally up to 20 hours per week.
Salary Range $16.50 per hour
