Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Operations Manager of The Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for general maintenance/repairs and reporting all maintenance-related projects to the Operations Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides onsite, hands-on maintenance to ensure a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness, and safety.
- Daily meeting room setups.
- Janitorial responsibilities as assigned.
- Responds to all maintenance requests/calls within a reasonable time frame and follows up accordingly.
- Attends onsite preventive maintenance appointments, is present for routine inspections, follows up on deficiencies, and reports items needing repair as necessary.
- Communicates with supervisor to report equipment failure, and/or observe physical assets in need of attention or repair.
- Provides status reports to the Operations Manager every week.
- Makes immediate notification of any emergency or unsafe conditions.
- Observes and reports back to the Operations Manager on all contractor work, ensuring the building and site are appropriately maintained by accepted and established standards. Prepares written materials (e.g., Weekly Reports, maintenance schedules, work orders, supporting materials, etc.) for the purpose of documenting and communicating as required.
- Responds to emergencies for the purpose of assisting in addressing immediate safety and health concerns. Assists in the evaluation of incidents causing damage to the agency’s assets and expeditiously affects temporary repairs when needed.
Qualifications and Success Factors:
- Principles and practices of all types of building repair/maintenance (both daily and preventative), grounds keeping, and custodial services.
- Use of personal computer systems, including word processing and email. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Understands and executes oral and written instructions, policies, and procedures.
- 2 years of experience in facilities maintenance.
- Extensive experience with hand tools and power tools.
- Experience in general building repair.
- Ability to lift to 60 pounds required.
- Ability to work off-shift hours required.
- Valid Florida Driver’s license required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
Work activities will include lifting, kneeling etc. May be required on occasion to lift and carry up to 60 pounds. Attendance both in office and in the field will be required as needed. In addition, attendance at meetings or activities outside of normal working hours may be required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 per hour
