Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Eligibility Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating and determining the eligibility of patients for various healthcare services and programs. You will work closely with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to ensure that all necessary documentation is accurate and complete. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical terminology, coding, and an understanding of acute care settings.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient eligibility for healthcare services based on established criteria.
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Collaborate with social workers and healthcare teams to facilitate discharge planning.
- Utilize knowledge of ICD-10 coding and medical coding practices to support accurate billing processes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of behavioral health services and hospital policies.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their eligibility status and required documentation.
- Provide support in the management of medical records to ensure confidentiality and compliance.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to eligibility determination processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience in acute care settings or similar healthcare environments.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding practices, including ICD-10.
- Background in social work or behavioral health is preferred but not required.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant software applications.

Job Type: Contract
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
