We're looking for an experienced, client-focused Municipal Team Leader
who is passionate about leadership, mentorship, and business development.


In this pivotal role, you will recruit, lead, and grow a dynamic team of technical professionals while serving as the primary contact for municipal clients. You’ll play a key role in expanding our presence in the Iowa market by building relationships, identifying opportunities, and delivering high-quality municipal services.

Goals & Responsibilities

This position includes, but is not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a team of engineering professionals
  • Provide leadership and oversight on all municipal projects in Iowa
  • Drive market growth by building client relationships, responding to RFPs, and networking
  • Serve as a technical resource for staff training, quality control, and project management
  • Develop, execute, and oversee strategic client relationship plans
  • Act as the primary point of contact for municipal clients and subconsultants
  • Collaborate with the Executive Team and other Team Leaders to execute corporate strategies

Qualifications & Skills

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following education, experience, and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Iowa (or ability to obtain)
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience, including 5+ years in project management and/or business development roles
  • Broad experience across water distribution, sanitary sewage collection, water resources, transportation, land development, permitting, and construction
  • Proven experience with client interaction, business development, proposal preparation, and contract negotiation
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to thrive both independently and within a team environment, while managing deadlines effectively
