Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Dispatcher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of our transportation and logistics services. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while utilizing various technology tools. The Dispatcher will be responsible for coordinating the movement of goods, managing fleet operations, and providing excellent customer service.
Duties
- Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and team members to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
- Utilize PortPro TMS system to track shipments and optimize routes.
- Fully operate Emodal and UIIA systems, ensuring accurate data entry and management.
- Schedule and manage appointments on the port websites to facilitate smooth operations and prevent delays.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, driver communications, and customer interactions.
- Monitor GPS systems to track fleet movements and ensure compliance with schedules.
- Oversee shipping and receiving processes, ensuring accuracy in documentation and timely processing of shipments.
- Maintain accurate records through data entry, ensuring all information is up-to-date in the system.
- Address any operational challenges proactively, ensuring a seamless flow of transportation services.
- Support drivers in their daily tasks, providing guidance and troubleshooting as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in port dispatch, specifically at Los Angeles and Long Beach terminals.
- Strong interpersonal comminication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
- Familiarity with transportation management software and GPS tracking systems is advantageous.
- Proficient in Emodal and UIIA systems.
- Knowledge of fleet management principles is a plus.
- Proficient in shipping and receiving processes, with attention to detail in documentation.
- Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills are essential.
- Competence in data entry with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
