DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Psychological Services Specialist, you will have the opportunity to provide psychological and counseling services to individuals with all ranges of intellectual disability and dually diagnosed, co-occurring mental health conditions. This professional serves as a member of an interdisciplinary team (IDT) and completes functional behavioral assessments, analyzes psychological and behavioral issues, provides recommendations to the team regarding psychological care, and drafts and monitors progress surrounding mental health support actions (MHSA). You will also demonstrate and transfer the strategies in the MHSA to the direct care staff by directly interacting with the individual in the presence of the staff, in addition to monitoring and observing the staff to ensure that the MHSA skills and strategies have been acquired and are being utilized appropriately. Within this role, it is essential to possess the ability to provide emergency psychological care and to coordinate team efforts during emergency behavioral interventions including responding to rapid responses.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Alternate work scheduled as needed, occasional second and third shift work required.
  • Travel and overtime as needed.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • A master’s degree in a behavioral science, counseling education, rehabilitation, human development or a closely related field.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
