A Recreation Leader is an essential member of our team and we invite you to apply and help contribute to CNLV’S growing success!

This posting will create a non-probationary internal Teamster eligibility list and fill 3 vacancies for this classification. The current vacancy is in the Parks & Recreation department. The eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification, for up to one hundred eighty (180) days. Non-probationary Teamster team members successfully completing the selection process will be placed on the eligibility list.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

  • Pay Considerations – The starting hourly pay for this position is $26.54. The selected candidate for this position will start at the beginning of the salary range, no exceptions. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.

    THIS POSTING REFLECTS THE SALARY SCHEDULE FOR THIS POSITION EFFECTIVE 7/1/2025. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL ACTIVE EMPLOYEES ON 7/26/2025 WILL RECEIVE A SALARY DECREASE CONSISTENT WITH AN INCREASE IN PERS CONTRIBUTION. AS SUCH, PAY IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND MAY BE REVISED.

  • Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day (36 hour work week). Must be able to work any shift or days of the week.
  • Environment
    • The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions including extreme heat and cold: No effective protection from weather.
    • The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
    • The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals, walking, and working on slippery and uneven surfaces.
    • May be required to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by department needs.
    • May be required to work overtime, stand-by, and call back during off hours to respond to emergencies.

THE ROLE
Implements and coordinates the day-to-day programming of recreation facilities, including Adaptive, Safekey, Seniors, Sports, Special Events, Golf Course, Aquatics and other programs and/or varied recreational activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

  • Two years college or university with course study in recreation, physical education or closely related field, and
  • Two years of recent work experience in the coordination of recreation programs/recreational activities, physical education or closely related field.
  • Equivalency: Four years of recent work experience in the coordination of recreation programs/recreational activities, physical education or closely related field OR possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Physical Education or closely related field may be substituted for the education and experience required above.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record and ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.
  • Valid First Aid Certification at time of application. Valid CPR Certification at time of application.

SELECTION PROCESS

  • The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process.


  • Virtual Pre-Screen via e-skill
    - (Pass/Fail).
  • Oral Board Interview (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%): August 11, 2025.
  • Review/appeal date: Thursday, August 21, 2025.
  • Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. **IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
  • Selection/Offers

Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.

The selection process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
