Social Media Manager
Location: On-site at Cars & Bids HQ in San Diego
Type: Full-time
Compensation: $75,000–$105,000 USD based on experience, plus equity and benefits
Schedule: Standard work week with occasional travel and weekend availability for events

Cars & Bids is the fastest-growing online auction platform for modern enthusiast cars, founded by automotive journalist Doug DeMuro. Since our launch in 2020, we’ve hosted over 30,000 auctions, sold more than $660 million in vehicles, and built one of the most passionate automotive communities on the internet. We’re not just a marketplace. We’re a content machine, reaching over 45 million viewers each month.
We’re looking for a Social Media Manager to join our growing team in San Diego. This is a high-impact position focused on executing and optimizing content across social platforms. The two priorities are driving views across platforms and increasing success on our marketplace. You’ll work closely with our content team, including Doug DeMuro, to plan, produce, and publish smart, stylish, and engaging content that resonates with our enthusiast audience.
This role requires creative instincts, strong execution skills, good taste, and a deep understanding of both the car world and internet culture. You should be analytical, collaborative, and highly in tune with what makes social content work.
What You’ll Do
- Execute the social strategy across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and more
- Maintain and evolve a social content calendar aligned with company priorities, campaigns, and cultural moments
- Write captions, select visuals, and package content for maximum impact. You have great taste and know how to make posts pop
- Collaborate with the content team to transform existing videos, memes, and moments into platform-native assets
- Track performance and surface insights regularly. You’re not just posting, you’re optimizing
- Stay on top of trends, formats, platform updates, and what’s working across automotive and creator accounts
- Engage with the enthusiast community and help shape the tone and voice of our brand online
- Help support launches, events, partnerships, and activations by coordinating and posting content in real time
What We’re Looking For
- Deep knowledge of car culture, or at least a strong appreciation and curiosity for the enthusiast world
- Excellent taste and creative judgment. You know what looks good and what resonates online
- Strong execution and organizational skills. You can juggle content pipelines, deadlines, and cross-team coordination
- Data-driven mindset. You understand how to use metrics to guide decisions and improve performance
- Experience creating social content using tools like Figma, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or similar
- Solid writing and editing skills, especially in a social-native tone
- Comfort with content scheduling and publishing tools like Later, Sprout, or Hootsuite
- A collaborative and proactive team player who thrives in a fast-paced, startup-style environment
