We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join our early intervention team. The SLPA will provide speech and language services to children with communication delays or disorders, under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist.
Responsibilities:
- Assist licensed Speech Language Pathologists in implementing treatment plans for children with speech and language disorders.
- Conduct therapy sessions under supervision, focusing on improving communication skills in a fun and engaging manner.
- Document patient progress and report findings to the supervising therapist.
- Prepare and organize materials for therapy sessions to enhance learning experiences.
- Support families by providing resources and strategies to reinforce therapy goals at home.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to collaborative treatment planning.
- Maintain a safe and welcoming therapy environment for all patients.
- Stay updated on best practices in speech therapy and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Associate's degree in Communication Disorders or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Current SLPA license in the state of Illinois.
- Experience working with children in a therapeutic or educational setting is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with children and families.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Compassionate demeanor and a genuine passion for helping children succeed.
- Basic knowledge of speech and language development and disorders.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new therapeutic techniques and approaches.
