I. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
Staff Team Member
Direct supervision of Student success Associates. Organizing and executing events, meetings, daily tasks. Participate in the on-going training, selection, and evaluation processes for the Student-life team. Serve as a positive role model to students and be a supportive team member to academy staff (substitute in academic space, attendance/student accountability liaison/student mail. now and share highlights, concerns and issues in your community with other academy staff team members . Direct oversight of assigned dorm spaces.
Community Development
Engage students in academic initiatives, leadership activities, service, opportunities, and social events that promote development through coordinating 6 programs per semester in the following areas:
i. 2 Social Programs (Academy/campus wide)
ii. 2 Community Development Programs (House specific)
iii. 2 Student Success Programs (Student activity Center, Campus academic support health and wellness, alcohol education, Success plans etc.)
Role model and reinforce positive behavior consistent with SPIRE campus and department policies; enforce all dorms and
SPIRE campus policies
Conduct regularly scheduled on-call rounds within the community , attending practices, classes and performance sessions in an effort to support student athletes.
Create a welcoming and comfortable living environment for students. Complete oversight of dorm/room checks with Dean of students. Address issues of intolerance, hate and injustice in a thorough and educational manner and student advocacy.
Role Model
Establish and maintain communication and relationships with students and their families.
Serve as a counseling resource, while fully utilizing campus resources. Participate on an ongoing on-call rotation and respond to building/area situations
Academic Development
Promote healthy and appropriate academic behaviors
Connect with supervisory staff and campus resources in order to support each student’s academic success. (attendance,
missing assignments, injury)
Administrative Duties
Support Student life community development through the completion of administrative tasks: weekly reports, program planning forms, townhall development etc. Share information with supervisory staff through written reports and weekly meetings when applicable, including weekly meetings with supervisor. Completion of incident reports. Update community area bulletin boards two times per semester not including check-out information and break information (to be posted at the end of each semester) Post and share information related to housing processes and other student events.
Assist with the check-in and check-out process for students. Coordinators should be accountable for their assigned students
at all times with the support of academy staff.
II. Typical Week Schedule:
1. Communication and Interaction with all assigned students
2. Collaboration with academy members and staff members on campus,
Program Ideas and Campus Events.
3. Administrative tasks for building concerns and community needs
4. Follow up with student and staff concerns and needs
5. 2 hours per week in the Student Life Office, scheduled at the beginning of
each semester planning student activities.
6. Attend staff Meetings assigned
7. Rotational assigned nights of resident life On-Call Rounds per week
8. Estimated Hours per Week: This number varies depending on the time of year, an average is roughly 40 hours per week. *This may vary due to academy events, days deemed as all hands on deck, or emergency situations.
9. 5 day on 2 day off schedule
10. Coordinate/Maintain the Student Success Associate staff schedule, tasks, and weekly goals.
10. Day shift :7:00am-2:00pm * designed for accessibility
Evening shift: 4:00pm to 12:00 am *Ability to replace call offs
III. Supervision
1. Direct Supervision by the Dean of Student Life.
2. Direct Supervisor of the Student Success Associate staff
3. Indirect Supervision by the Managing director of the academy.
IV. Position Requirements
1. Ability to pass drug test/background check
2. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
3. Ability to obtain student transportation permit
4. Ability to obtain a student activity permit ( ODE -Ohio department of
Education)
V. Compensation
1. From $42,000-48,000, plus benefits and on campus room and board.
