Rate of pay: $18.00. Final compensation is based on factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience.
Essential Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and lead swimming practices for various age groups and skill levels, ensuring progression and safety.
- Recruit, supervise, mentor, assistant coaches and volunteers.
- Create seasonal training programs and practice schedules aligned with competitive goals.
- Attend all swim meets, providing leadership and support to team members.
- Maintain accurate records of swimmer progress, attendance, and meet results.
- Communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, and staff through regular updates, meetings, and digital platforms.
- Promote good sportsmanship, team unity, and adherence to organization values.
- Ensure compliance with USA Swimming, YMCA, or league rules and safety guidelines.
- Assist in managing team budget, including equipment needs, meet fees, and travel expenses.
- Organize team events, fundraising efforts, and community outreach initiatives.
- Evening and weekend flexibility required for practices and swim meets.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve a diverse community.
- Minimum age 21
- High School diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 2–3 years coaching experience with competitive swim teams.
- Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, Lifeguarding, and either USA Swimming Coach Certification or YMCA Swim Coach Certification.
- Strong knowledge of stroke technique, training principles, and meet management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and develop swimmers of all ages and abilities.
- Must complete certifications in CPR, First Aid, Lifeguarding, Safety Training for Swim Coaches as well as Principles of YMCA competitive swimming & diving within 90 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Multi-lingual skills
- USA Swimming Certified
- Previous Head Coach and/or Lead Coach Experience.
- YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
