This position is a member of our Air Section at the Houston regional office.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Conduct highly advanced or specialized technical work in the field of Air pollution for the Houston Regional Office of TCEQ.
- Prioritize, plan, organize, and conduct highly advanced or specialized investigations; prepare reports to document field activities and observed conditions. Assist with collecting and analyzing environmental samples.
- Provide training, mentoring, and quality assurance review for environmental investigators; approve investigation reports.
- Conduct enforcement and follow-up activities in accordance with Enforcement Initiation Criteria.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with air quality issues.
- Experience evaluating rules/policies/procedures and/or making compliance determinations or recommendations regarding environmental regulations.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field generally preferred, but not required; plus, six years of full-time experience in environmental activities.
OR
A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the degrees listed above, plus five years of the required experience.
OR
A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in the degrees listed above, plus four years of the required experience.
OR
Ten years of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities.
OR
Two years of full-time TCEQ experience as an Environmental Investigator IV.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES
This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Natural Resources Specialist V state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Environmental Investigator V series.
Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Houston Region Office.
