Newton Animal Hospital is a three doctor veterinary practice in Newton, KS. Our patients are dogs and cats.
We are looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician with animal care knowledge, animal handling skills, strong communication skills, and a love of working with both animals and people. Applicants are not required to be a registered veterinary technician, but one year of previous work as a Veterinary Technician is required. We are looking for a new team member who is dependable, team-oriented, has a positive attitude, a desire to learn, and an exceptional work ethic.
We are searching for a candidate who will be a good fit for our team. We are open to discussing pay rates. PAY WILL BE DETERMINED BASED ON EXPERIENCE.
Veterinary Technician Duties Include:
- Assisting with animal restraint
- Assisting the veterinarian in providing patient care
- Monitoring anesthetic and prepping patients for surgery
- Performing dental cleanings
- Taking digital radiographic images, including dental images
- Administering vaccines, in accordance with regulations
- Perform nail trims, express anal glands
- Drawing lab samples and running lab tests
- Filling prescriptions
- Feeding, walking, medicating patients
- Stocking exam rooms with supplies
- Assisting in admitting/discharging of patients
- Cleaning treatment areas and patient cages
- Cleaning exam rooms between patient exams
- Communicating with clients
Requirements:
- Must be able to work Saturday morning hours (on a rotating schedule with the Vet Tech staff).
- Must be able to move around frequently or stand for long periods, lift 40 pounds on your own, and be able to work in stooped or kneeling position.

Newton Animal Hospital performs drug testing, reference, and background checks on all candidates upon an employment offer. All offers are contingent pending the results.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
