Intermediate Software Engineer
Job description
Welcome to the Intermediate Software Engineer Role
This is an intermediate engineering role reporting to the Engineering Team Lead, where you'll deliver well-scoped features on our enterprise SaaS product with increasing independence.
As an Intermediate Software Engineer, you'll turn requirements into working, tested, deployed software — working closely with your Tech Lead, Product, and Test Analysts to get it right. You'll play a direct role in shipping a platform used by customers in over 70 countries, while building the foundations for a long-term engineering career.
This is a collaborative, fast-moving role where you'll get guidance on the harder or more ambiguous problems, and real trust to run with the rest. You'll also support our customers directly — picking up technical support requests, diagnostics and bug fixes as they come in.
With exposure across the full delivery lifecycle — from design through deployment to production support — you'll build the breadth and judgment that sets you up for growth into more senior engineering roles.
What You'll Be Doing (Your Impact)Your primary focus will be shipping well-defined features end-to-end and growing your independence as you go.
- Feature Delivery & Technical Execution: Deliver features from design through to deployment, applying modern design patterns, development principles and security standards in your own work
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with Product, Design and Engineering to understand business objectives and technical requirements, and determine the best way to deliver the solution
- Customer Support & Platform Reliability: Manage technical support requests, diagnostics and bug fixes, and flag risks and concerns early
- Quality & Code Review: Give constructive code review feedback to peers, and respond well to feedback on your own work
- Continuous Improvement: Recommend improvements to how we review, test and ship code
- Knowledge Sharing: Share what you learn with less experienced engineers on the team
At Arlo, you'll find a supportive team that trusts you to make an impact, gives you the freedom to grow, and the space to do your best work. We value clarity, grit, ownership and curiosity, and we're not afraid to challenge ideas to reach the best outcome. We work hard, move fast, and celebrate wins together.
Experience
- 2-4 years' experience designing, building, and deploying multi-tenanted systems on the Microsoft stack
- Solid C# and TypeScript, with REST APIs consumed by a modern JavaScript front end (React preferred)
- Experience with a modern front-end framework (React, Vue, Svelte) — familiarity with legacy frameworks like ExtJS or Knockout is a bonus, as parts of our codebase still use them
- Understanding of dependency injection, IoC concepts, unit and integration testing, and SOLID principles
- It would be an advantage to have DevOps and CloudFormation exposure, cloud technologies (microservices, ECR, Lambdas, SQS), SQL Server knowledge, or experience working hybrid/remote
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to adapt to and accept other approaches
- Results-driven mentality, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and with a "can-do" attitude
- Comfort in a dynamic environment where you need to move quickly and wear many hats
- Owns their solutions, good and bad, and shares useful knowledge with the team
- Doesn't avoid hard conversations — says what's on their mind while maintaining good relationships with the team
