About this role:
As a Developer with Black Sheep, you’ll have the opportunity to work with some of the most epic brands in New Zealand like Hamilton Gardens, Hamilton Zoo, Waikato Museum, Lodge Real Estate, NHR and a whole lot more. Developing full-stack solutions on SilverStripe, Hubspot, and NextJS.
Our developers are customer facing. We’re all about humans working with humans to deliver meaningful solutions.
We are looking for a Web Developer who is eager to come and work with our team of passionate designers and developers in a fast-paced environment. Helping local businesses harness the power of the web.
About you:
Naturally self-directed, you confident working multiple projects and priorities assigned to you. You believe that together is better, so mucking in with whatever needs to be done doesn't faze you in the slightest. A natural problem solver, you're systematic when troubleshooting, able to accurately understand needs and generate solutions. Being a great communicator means you easily connect with clients to provide support with queries, over the phone, in person and via email as required, tailoring responses into information that is meaningful and on point.
Weather you’re a new grad or you’ve been on the front lines for a few years and are looking for a change we’re keen to hear from you.
Key qualities that make you the best fit for this role:
- First-hand demonstratable experience building websites or web applications
- Experience in PHP (Silverstripe, WordPress, or Laravel), and JavaScript (JQuery and (React or Vue))
- Skilled in object-oriented programming
- Skilled in making and understanding REST API’s
- Desire and ability to work directly with clients
- Demonstratable experience with AI MCP, Agents and Claude or similar Co Pilot assistants
- Passion for design with an eye for detail (after all, it's the little things that count)
- Ability to communicate technical concepts and information to non-technical people
- Organisational skills, you manage your time and deliver on your commitments
