This position will help train and guide our member coops on standardized accounting tools and processes. This is an ideal position for those who enjoy supporting and building software transitions and want to empower others through clear, practical financial guidance.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support NCG members in preparing and implementing operating budgets, financial forecasts, and pro forma statements for expansion and acquisition projects, using NCG's standard tools.
- Develop, maintain, and train members on standardized accounting tools such as Weekly Sales Reports, Cash Forecasting, and other reporting and budgeting platforms.
- Lead and support implementation of the NCG Common Chart of Accounts (CCOA) for member co-ops, ensuring accurate alignment with standardized financial reporting structures.
- Assist members with software transitions, including planning and executing conversions between QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Sage Intacct, and other platforms; ensure COA and historical data are correctly migrated.
- Provide financial tracking and assessment for selected emergent support projects or high-risk/high-needs co-ops, including compilation and review of financial data, variance analysis, and recommendations.
- Train staff and member co-ops on accounting systems, financial tools, standards, and procedures; develop written support materials and guidance for consistent application across the organization.
- Participate in the planning, coordination, and execution of NCG's national accounting/finance "Co+nnect" conference.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in retail accounting or co-op accounting roles.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in budgeting and financial business planning.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Fluency with QuickBooks Online; ability to navigate, configure, and troubleshoot effectively.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop and Sage Intacct; familiarity with other Sage products and other accounting software platforms.
- Experience converting between accounting software platforms, including planning and executing migrations.
- Experience revising, updating, and implementing a Chart of Accounts (COA) within QuickBooks Online or comparable systems.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with experience in variance analysis and financial modeling.
- Up to 25% of business travel is required, including overnights and weekends.

The salary for this position is $101,189.09.
Workstation Options
- Home Office (Contiguous U.S.): Eligible if within 100 miles of a major airport and has sufficient internet bandwidth and mobile phone service.
- St. Paul, MN Office: Workstations available at 2610 University Ave W, with free parking and access to the Green Line Light Rail (Westgate Station).
