Job Summary
The Accounting Specialist plays a key role in maintaining accurate and timely financial records within a real estate organization. Responsibilities include managing accounts payable and receivable, updating financial records, preparing financial reports and budgets, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and process accounts receivable, including documenting bills and appropriate supporting documentation.
- Maintain accounts payable, ensuring timely invoice payments, confirming debt validity, and obtaining proper approvals.
- Update financial records and transactions using accounting software.
- Collect and input payroll-related expenses into appropriate general ledger accounts.
- Assist in preparing quarterly budgets under the direction of senior management.
- Compile and analyze accounting data to perform and record journal and account entries.
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts; investigate discrepancies and correct as needed.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries related to financial transactions and accounts.
- Process purchase order invoices and manage check-related functions such as deposits, voids, cancellations, reissues, and reconciliations.
- Handle premium payments, resolve application issues, and ensure proper documentation.
- Assist with 1099 processing and maintain compliance with tax regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
- Support the updating of corporate accounting policies and procedures.
- Maintain high attention to detail with precise and clear communication.
Equipment Used:
- Computer, printer, fax machine, scanner, copier, and other standard office equipment.
Education & Experience:
- BS in Accounting preferred or 3–5 years of equivalent accounting experience, preferably in the real estate industry.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Aptitude for learning and adapting to innovative technologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Accounting Systems - Infor Sunsystems and Profit Power knowledge and experience a plus.
- Property Management Systems - Yardi and Appfolio knowledge and experience a plus.
- Familiarity with real estate industry practices a plus.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
