Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist to join our HR department. We welcome candidates with a range of HR experience, including those from other sectors drawn to the people-centered purpose of schools. We are looking for someone with a passion for people, strategic thinking skills, and a desire to grow in a collaborative, values-driven environment. As a Human Resources Generalist at San Domenico School, you will play a vital role in supporting HR operations and contributing to a positive and productive workplace. You will assist with various administrative tasks and learn the fundamentals of HR processes. This position is exempt and reports to the Director of Human Resources.
Key Responsibilities of a Human Resources Generalist:
- Employee Records Management:
- Assist in maintaining and updating employee records, including personal information and employment history.
- Ensure data accuracy and confidentiality.
- Recruitment Support:
- Coordinate job postings on various platforms, review resumes, manage candidate phone screening and reference checking.
- Help ensure that every applicant’s experience—from first contact through onboarding and orientation—reflects a spirit of welcome, inclusion, and hospitality.
- Support hiring managers in designing thoughtful and consistent search and hiring processes, especially during peak season.
- Oversee the onboarding process, ensuring seamless integration of new employees into the organization.
- Benefits and Leave Administration:
- Support the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
- Assist employees with benefit enrollment, changes, and inquiries, ensuring a high level of customer service.
- Collaborate with benefits vendors and business office team members to ensure accurate and timely processing of benefits-related transactions.
- HR Documentation:
- Prepare and distribute HR-related documents, such as offer letters, contracts, and policy updates.
- Provide administrative support to the HR department, including maintaining HRIS databases, processing paperwork, and generating reports.
- Assist in organizing HR-related events, training sessions, and meetings.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Assist in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Support HR audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Stay informed about changes in employment legislation and assist in updating HR policies and procedures accordingly.
- Employee Experience and Relations:
- Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits.
- Assist in resolving employee relations issues, including conducting investigations and documenting findings.
- Help assess and strengthen the overall employee experience, identifying opportunities to support engagement, morale, and growth.
- Support the implementation of employee engagement initiatives to foster a positive work culture.
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to build on and nurture a culture of trust, respect, and professional development.
- Strategic Tools and Insights
- Collect and analyze HR-related data to inform decisions around hiring, retention, and employee engagement.
- Collaborate on creating clear, useful dashboards and reports for both HR and school leadership.
- Stay informed about emerging tools- including AI-that can improve processes, enhance communication, or reduce administrative workload.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by exploring new ways to use data and technology in support of our people and programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field .
- 3+ years experience in human resources or a related field.
- Solid understanding of HR principles, practices, and regulations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google sheets .
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar HRIS database.
- PHR or SHRM-CP, preferred.
- A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity.

Compensation
Salary range is $80,340 - $92,700 annually, commensurate with skill set and experience. This position is classified as exempt. The School offers an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/matching 403b retirement plan and daily lunch on work days.
