The HR Generalist serves as the senior member of the cross-functional HR Services team, delivering responsive, high-quality support in all areas of Human Resources—either directly or through collaboration with peer staff. This role offers the best of both worlds: the close relationships of small business partnerships combined with the resources and advantages of a larger organization. You will work alongside HR Administrators, Generalists, and Senior Business Partners, with opportunities both to mentor others and to learn from seasoned professionals. The HR Generalist is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance and safeguarding confidential information, while providing timely, reliable assistance in the administration of a wide variety of Human Resources functions for BCN’s clients and their employees.
JOB DUTIES
Client Service & Case Management – Research and resolve client and employee service requests, track inquiries in the service system, and serve as point of contact for assigned clients.
Employee Relations & Compliance – Manage employee relations cases, conduct investigations, and respond to complaints or inquiries from employees, managers, and government agencies.
Policy & Guidance – Provide HR policy interpretation, compliance support, and handbook/policy recommendations to clients and staff.
Coaching & Advising – Counsel client managers and owners on employee relations, performance management, and workforce strategies.
Training & Development – Develop and deliver training programs for clients and internal staff, and mentor HR Administrators using structured coaching methods (e.g., Tell, Show, Try, Do).
Team Leadership & Oversight – Act as “Manager on Duty” for the HR Service Center, oversee daily schedules, monitor coverage, and handle escalated or complex cases.
Quality Assurance – Conduct end-of-day and end-of-week procedures, proactively ensure service standards are met, and provide feedback to support continuous improvement.
Data & Reporting – Provide clients with status updates through system metrics, reporting requests, and service model feedback.
Project & Process Management – Lead client projects such as vendor updates, system implementations, and procedural enhancements, and recommend process improvements.
Administrative Compliance – Manage compliance-related tasks, including posters, employee record requests, and subpoena responses.
TOTAL COMPENSATION
Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance at no premium for employee coverage. >16 days PTO per year. Pay range $50,000-60,000
REQUIREMENTS
- Four year business degree or equivalent work experience.
- Three years experience related to defined job responsibilities or equivalent training.
- Strong knowledge of HR law and state/federal regulations.
- Baseline knowledge of benefits, payroll, employment taxes, and other products and services provided by BCN.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency.
- Has obtained or is pursuing PHR/SPHR certification, CPA accreditation, or insurance agent license.
