Job Summary
St. Mary’s United Church of Christ is seeking a highly organized and proactive Church Office Manager to oversee the daily administrative operations of our church office and provide support to the Pastor, Staff, and Volunteers of the church. This vital role provides comprehensive administrative assistance, manages office operations, and coordinates key projects across church ministry teams. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technologically proficient, able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and, as primary point-of-contact for the church, is capable of fostering smooth communication with internal and external individuals and groups, leadership, staff, and congregation members.
The Office Manager is entrusted with, and accountable for, key administrative, organizational, and interpersonal responsibilities that contribute to the smooth operation of day-to-day activities of the church. Serving in this position facilitates ministry activities and contributes to St. Mary’s mission to “Cultivate—Grow—Renew” and our vision “To be a sanctuary for all God’s children, built up in Christ, established in faith, and grounded in love.”
Critical duties include managing schedules, handling correspondence, maintaining confidential records, and overseeing office supplies and equipment. The Office Manager is responsible for preparing reports, assisting with financial record-keeping, administrative policy development and interpretation, and supporting the coordination of church programs and events.

The successful candidate will have the following minimal qualifications:
Education and Experience:
· High school education or General Education Diploma (GED) required; degree preferred.
· Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience providing management and administrative management support (preferably in a church/non-profit environment).
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- Strong administrative and organizational abilities, with exceptional attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.) and adaptable to learning new software tools including Church Management systems such as QuickBooks, Church Center, Planning Center, and Canva
- Demonstrated skills in the areas of problem-solving, creative thinking with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent people skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across all levels of staff, leadership, and external contacts
- Discreet and professional, with the ability to manage sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-cultural team environment
- Flexible and calm under pressure, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
