Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic pastry assistant to join our dynamic team at Aubergine. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary arts and a strong commitment to food safety and customer service. This role involves supporting kitchen operations, assisting in pastry and food preparation, and ensuring that service runs smoothly.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation and Baking: Assist in the preparation and baking of a variety of pastries, cakes, and desserts according to established recipes.
- Menu Development: Assist the Executive Chef and/or Pastry Chef with the development of new recipes, designs, and menu items.
- Quality Control: Ensure the quality and consistency of all pastry products, including taste, presentation, and appearance.
- Workstation Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
- Inventory Management: Assist in managing inventory levels, ordering supplies, and reporting low inventory items.
- Food Safety: Follow all food safety and hygiene standards, including proper storage and handling of ingredients.
- Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other pastry staff and kitchen team.
- Equipment Operation: Safely and efficiently operate baking equipment.
Skills and Requirements:
- Pastry Experience: 3+ years of experience in a pastry kitchen is typical.
- Culinary Skills: Proficiency in pastry techniques, baking processes, and food preparation.
- Knowledge of Food Safety: Understanding of food safety regulations and practices.
- Organization and Time Management: Ability to organize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work collaboratively with others and communicate effectively.
