Who We Are
The Austin Centers for Exceptional Students provides exceptional learning for every student because every student deserves the chance to succeed, regardless of challenges. The Austin Centers is a multifaceted special education program, designed specifically for students with emotional disabilities, autism, intellectual disabilities, specific learning disabilities or other educational challenges. We currently serve over a thousand students per year from more than 100 school districts and charter schools on all our campuses. Our staff includes a variety of professionals that work together to address a student’s physical, emotional, and behavioral. Thrive Autism Services, a subsidiary of the Austin Centers, provides individualized Applied Behavioral Analysis therapy to individuals 18-months old through adulthood, both in-home and in clinic settings. We utilize our team of highly trained Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) to support the individual receiving services and the family unit as a whole. Our practices are rooted in the most effective evidence-based treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Job Summary
The Recruiter is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the HR director in supporting The Austin Centers for Exceptional Students and Thrive Autism Services locations. We are a purpose-driven organization that values our employees for the incredible impact they have on youth in our communities. The role will focus on the talent acquisition and onboarding for new employees in compliance with state regulations. The Recruiter will play a valuable role in supporting a positive culture and employee retention for our teams. They will work in close partnership with campus/clinic leadership and with the HR team to achieve results. This individual should have excellent communication skills, thrive in a team environment, enjoy designing and improving processes, and have knowledge of state talent acquisition and employment regulations. This person will be responsible for hiring and onboarding hourly school employees and all positions (exempt and non-exempt) in our Autism clinics, however this is subject to change.
Responsibilities
- Works in partnership with leaders to understand talent needs and generate solutions.
- Source and screen qualified candidates for a variety of open roles, including exempt, non-exempt, part-time and full-time.
- Coordinates interviews with campus and clinic leadership then make employment offers where applicable.
- Process and track a high volume of new hire onboarding to include background screening, fingerprinting, collection of new hire forms, data entry, and detailed follow-up with new hires and managers; regularly update campus leaders on the status of new hires.
- Completes the Form I-9 and E-Verify to maintain compliance.
- Support the team in miscellaneous talent needs, including 1099 contracts, updates to job descriptions and offers for internal promotions.
- Assesses, makes recommendations, and leads process improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and compliance. Remains creative and solution-oriented even in the face of challenges.
- Creates and performs audits to ensure accuracy with compliance and data entry.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including Arizona private school law.
- Commits to exceptional customer service, confidentiality, and professionalism at all times
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Management preferred
- Must have 4+ years of general Recruiting experience
- Experience recruiting in behavior health and/or education strongly preferred
- Must have 2+ years managing employee onboarding tasks, including I-9s and background checks.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and the ability to build positive and strong relationships with all stakeholders.
- Strong and creative problem-solving skills; ability to troubleshoot and find sustainable, smart solutions with little direction.
- Positive, teamwork attitude; oriented towards detail, thoroughness, and accuracy.
- Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Achievement-oriented self-starter, willing to work hard and be team-oriented.
- Knowledgeable of Federal and Arizona employment law.
- Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) skills
- Experience with ADP preferred
Additional Requirements
- Type of fingerprint clearance: Must possess or be able to obtain valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One IVP fingerprint clearance card
- Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately
- This is primarily an in-office position with Monday-Thursday being located in the central office (located near US51 & Highland Ave) or at a campus, with the ability to work from home on Fridays.
- Travel required: May need to travel locally to the various campuses within the Phoenix area.
This position is bonus-eligible, based on performance.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
