Visiting Instructor of Criminal Justice
ABOUT THIS POSITION
Summary: The Social and Behavioral Sciences department at Colorado Mesa University is seeking a Visiting Instructor of Criminal Justice. Colorado Mesa University is a state-funded, largely undergraduate institution that emphasizes quality teaching. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester, which is typically four 3-credit-hour classes a semester.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following (other duties may be assigned):
Teaching core and elective criminal justice courses including, but not limited to: Introduction to Criminal Justice (CRMJ 201), Research Methods (CRMJ 315), Corrections (CRMJ 320) and Contemporary Issues in Criminal Justice (CRMJ 465).
The ability to teach in-person lecture format, as well as hybrid and fully online.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- Master's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or Sociology.
- At least two years of experience teaching in-person undergraduate-level criminal justice courses.
- Experience with classroom technology and learning management systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or ABD in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or Sociology.
- At least five years of experience teaching criminal justice courses.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
- Candidates who have a background of practical/professional field experience in criminal justice.
