Position Summary
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, organizing, and engaging Fight CRC volunteers to drive awareness, support advocacy, and mobilize communities in the fight against colorectal cancer. This role ensures that volunteers across the organization are equipped, informed, and appreciated, while also managing systems, materials, and communications that support a seamless and impactful volunteer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Program Management
- Lead and manage United in Blue Volunteer Day, including recruitment, logistics, training, and recognition for over 400 volunteers.
- Use a Volunteer Management Tool to track hours, roles, communications, and events across the organization.
- Maintain and optimize the volunteer pathway based on audit insights—ensuring a clear, structured, and engaging journey for all volunteers.
- Serve as point person for Fight CRC’s Community of Champions, supporting their onboarding, engagement, and impact.
- Respond to volunteer inquiries via phone, email, and through the volunteer sign-up form, ensuring timely and professional communication.
Event & Campaign Support
- Coordinate logistics and shipping of awareness event materials, ensuring accurate and timely delivery for national and local events.
- Support Springfield-based community events, representing Fight CRC when needed and engaging volunteers in planning and execution.
- Collaborate with the Community Engagement Committee, actively contributing to planning, execution, and leadership development.
- Partner with other Fight CRC teams to activate volunteers around campaigns, fundraisers, and advocacy initiatives.
Communications & Engagement
- Create and distribute a monthly volunteer newsletter with updates, opportunities, and inspiring stories.
- Oversee the volunteer section of the website, including updating volunteer opportunities and ensuring content aligns with Fight CRC’s brand and mission.
- Plan and execute volunteer recognition activities, including social media features, thank-you events, and National Volunteer Week celebrations.
Operational Excellence
- Maintain and monitor the volunteer program budget, tracking expenses related to engagement, recognition, tools, and events.
- Evaluate and recommend tools and processes that support scalable volunteer management, including technology, onboarding assets, and engagement frameworks.
- Support cross-functional teams in identifying and filling volunteer needs, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
Required Experience and Skills
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in community organizing, event planning, or volunteer coordination (minimum 2 years preferred).
- Proven ability to work with diverse populations and foster inclusive, empowering environments.
