Shift: 1st (6:00AM - 4:30PM, Monday - Thursday, 10 hours)
Job description: Prepare and handle material items to be blasted and/or painted.
- At the beginning and end of shift, walk the yard and make a list of what is available for the shop to work on
- Follow the list provided by the supervisor as to what needs to be worked on and in what order it needs to be done
- Use sound judgement and forward thinking when the work schedule changes.
- Prep all wagons for the blasters, staying ahead of them so work continues to flow steadily
- Working directly with loading department when wagons and trailer need to go directly to them
- Assemble paperwork packet for each wagon, pull prints and double check they are tracked properly
- Pull shop wagons back to the appropriate bay
- Assist in directing other bays where to bring their spools/parts
- Perform conductivity tests/dust tests/solvent cleaning when applicable
- Run the reclaim system 1-2 times a day depending on workflow
- Inspects wagons/trailers to ensure safety and proper loading for painters.
- Maintain organization of prints and paperwork in order and separated
- Apprise supervisor when issues arise
- Blow/shovel snow off wagons and trailers before bringing them into the building
- Conducts work safely and follow all safety procedures. Rejects work that is not safe and discusses the situation with supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.
