Park Ranger I

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Responsible for making security patrol checks of park properties and protects staff, park patrons, and property. Provides information and assistance to park patrons and staff.
TYPICAL TASKS:
Patrols park sites and facilities and notifies supervisor of any significant incident or event;
Conducts safety and security inspections of sites and equipment;
Submit reports and prepares daily patrol log;
Provides customer service amidst difficult situations;
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Excellent communications skills, both written and oral; ability to resolve conflicts and effectively deal with citizens.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education
and experience equivalent to a High School Diploma; and two (2) years experience in a customer service environment. Virginia Operators License and safe driving record.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls;
Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine;
Significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, and repetitive motions
