JOB PURPOSE/ROLE

This position will be responsible for significant components of the global and local regulatory financial reporting for the P&C insurance companies. The reporting responsibilities include remaining current on financial reporting changes, reviewing financial statements and disclosures, and providing senior management with analysis over the financial results. This role will have significant interactions with the global accounting community and be responsible for providing additional training to the accounting department on financial reporting topics.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Drive the team priorities and take ownership for various components of the team’s deliverables.


Perform reviews over the financial information/reporting and provide feedback on the work of the team.


Coach and develop employees in a continuously changing environment.


Foster behavior of team members as desired according to AGCS standards (e.g., behavioral goals, etc.).


Establish tone at the top with regards to business processes, internal controls, and data quality.


Evaluate and establish processes to minimize manual efforts and focus on automation or semi-automation of processes.


Maintain data quality standards within the team with a focus on regulatory requirements and internal reporting needs.


Foster team environment that focuses on process improvement related to operation cycles, processes and workflows.


Monitor and facilitate the timely and accurate execution of the financial close in accordance with global close schedule.


Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting of the IFRS, US Statutory, and Canadian Regulatory reporting.


Ensure compliance with reporting requirements by reviewing the financial schedules and disclosures.


Provide financial statement analysis with discussion of variance to senior manager (e.g., IFRS vs. Statutory, other assets/liabilities, etc.).


Primary contact for external audit firm (financial statement audits) and state examiners (regulatory exams).


Ensure timely and accurate execution of the financial close in accordance with global closing schedule.


Ensure timely and accurate execution and fulfillment of internal and external reporting requirements.


Perform review over investment accounting entries, reconciliations, analysis, and reporting.


Provide analysis and perspective on accounting results to senior management and the business.


Drive both global and local initiatives as defined during annual priority setting.

KEY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business degree;


CPA Preferred;


Minimum of 5 years of experience with Financial Statement preparation;


Knowledge of IFRS is a plus;


Comprehensive knowledge of local GAAP, IAS, IFRS, Regulatory, Tax and other relevant requirements (such as Allianz Accounting policies) with regard to reporting, compliance and declaration;


Advanced Microsoft Office skills (e.g., Excel, Access, PowerPoint) to effectively analyze data and convey messages in a winning fashion, as well as proficiency in using systems in own area (e.g., SAP and Business Warehouse);


Performance measurement experience, including drivers, with an ability to perform financial statement analysis (e.g. , reading a P&L and Balance sheet, Ratio Analysis, capital management, and lines of business functions);


Ability to manage projects and to handle complex processes, including understanding of data flows, documentation of processes, analysis of root causes and creation of action plans;


Ability to identify patterns and root causes in complex data and processes to rapidly distill key issues and provide insight in various situations;


Ability to identify and initiate appropriate actions to remediate issues that can be abstract/ambiguous and follow through on their remediation;


Knowledge of data architecture, understanding the potential of data analytics, ability to digitalize the accounting processes and to explain the accounting needs to third parties;


Ability to understand, elaborate and convey information clearly and effectively with respect to the audience/level of management (both verbal and in writing); and


Collaboration across teams (in and outside of CFO) and in virtual teams, with the ability to supervise and coordinate near- and offshore teams without authority.
