Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Accounting team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, and maintaining financial records. This role requires proficiency in wither Chempax or Netsuite ERP and a strong understanding of financial concepts.
Duties
- Process accounts payable transactions, including invoice verification, data entry, and payment processing.
- Maintain accurate records of all accounts payable activities and ensure compliance with internal controls.
- Review invoices and prepare payable vouchers for correct coding, sufficient documentation, and correct authorization.
- Conduct account reconciliations to verify accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate with vendors to address inquiries or issues related to payments and invoices.
- Assist in month-end closing activities.
- Support the Accounting team in preparing reports related to accounts payable.
- Participate in audits as required, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Perform basic mathematical procedures when reconciling or coding invoices.
- Perform check / ACH payments and record in accounting system.
- Perform other duties, as requested.
Experience
- Proven experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting role is preferred.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as Netsuite or Chempax - a huge plus.
- Knowledge of accounting concepts including double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and account reconciliation is essential.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail; ability to analyze financial data effectively.
- Proficient in data entry with excellent 10 key typing skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- 5 + years of accounts payable experience
- Strong computer and Microsoft Excel Skills
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Chemical Experience is required.
