The Public Affairs Department strategically and persuasively communicates Friends of the Earth’s positions and programmatic work to shape public perception, influence decision-making, and advance the organization’s campaign priorities. The Public Affairs Department encompasses web and social media, graphics and multimedia, new and traditional media, and government and political affairs. The Department is responsible for maintaining the organization’s brand, monitoring federal policy, and co-developing communications and legislative strategies with the Programs Department.
Summary
Friends of the Earth is looking for a Content Producer to draft and produce digital content based on Friends of the Earth’s campaigns that increase the visibility of organizational work. This content may be in graphic, audio, written, or video formats, including content for organizational websites. The position will coordinate and serve as a spokesperson for the organization in videos created for social media and incorporate current industry trends and best practices to improve our reach. This position will report to the Director of Public Affairs.
The annual salary range for this full-time remote position is $72,000-$81,000. This position is part of the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU) at Friends of the Earth. Offers are determined based on the relevant skills and experience required for the position.
Essential Functions
- 25%- Draft and produce innovative and engaging digital content based on Friends of the Earth’s campaigns that increases the visibility of organizational work. This content may be in graphic, audio, written, or video formats.
- 25%- Create content for organizational websites, including victory stories that highlight campaign wins and SEO content to draw in organic users.
- 20%- Coordinate and serve as a spokesperson for the organization in videos created for social media.
- 15%- Keep current on communications industry trends and best practices to improve our reach.
- 15%- Partner with the Digital Communications Manager to develop digital content strategies.
Required Qualifications
- 4-6 years of professional experience in media, digital communications, or a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to review and edit documents and content effectively
- Experience in digital storytelling, including crafting compelling, audience specific narratives, adapted stories for various platforms
- Proficient in social media management tool (example Meltwater, Hootsuite or Sprout) and performance analytics tools such as Google Analytics
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with shifting deadlines and priorities
- Proven ability to collaborate on cross-functional team projects from initiation to completion
- Detail-oriented with experience in reviewing and editing documents with a high degree of accuracy and clarity
- Confident in public-facing roles, including on-camera appearances
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated strengths in decision-making, time management, and task prioritization in fast-paced environments
- Proactive and adaptable, with a creative approach to evolving needs
- Experience collaborating with creative teams to conceptualize and deliver strategic audio/visual content that aligns organizational goals and brand identity.
