Position Summary
Working in close collaboration with the Acting Director, the holder of this position will assist the day to day operations of the Hull-House Museum during the 2025-26 academic year.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Writing, Editing, and Communications - Draft engaging and accessible exhibition text and promotional copy across platforms.
- Edit and proofread institutional communications, including the monthly newsletter and press releases.
- Assist in developing social media captions and website content aligned with the museum's voice and mission.
- Conduct fact-checking and citation verification for publications and digital materials.
- Grant Writing - Research potential funding opportunities from foundations and government agencies.
- Draft and edit grant applications in collaboration with Hull-House leadership.
- Supervision of Student Workers - Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training of Visitor Services Assistants (VSAs).
- Coordinate weekly schedules and ensure appropriate VSA coverage for exhibitions and programs.
- Provide occasional backup for VSA duties.
- Hull-House Books and Publications - Assist the organization, editing, and production workflow of Act Well Your Part, a forthcoming Hull-House Books title.
- In partnership with the Acting Director, liaise with contributors, copy editors, and designers to meet publication deadlines.
- Conduct historical or archival research to verify information or supplement publication content.
- In partnership with the Program Assistant, manage book orders and inventory for the bookstore.
- Prepare occasional performance reports to share with all staff.
- Administrative and Research Support - Build and maintain shared digital filing systems.
- Coordinate internal meetings: prepare agendas, take notes, and circulate follow-ups.
- Assist Acting Director in project management of ongoing Hull-House initiatives.
- Provide logistical support for public programs, including RSVP tracking, name tags, and printed materials.
- Assist in the drafting and management of expense reports.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience comparable to the third level of this series.
