We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the care and well-being of animals in our facility. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care, possess strong animal handling skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring that all pets receive the attention and care they deserve.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising pets.
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels and common areas to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
- Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff or management.
- Assist with animal restraint during examinations or treatments as needed.
- Support pet owners with information about pet care and facility services.
- Handle various breeds of dogs and other animals with confidence and care.
- Perform heavy lifting as required when moving animals or cleaning equipment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure high standards of animal welfare.
Skills
- Experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong animal handling skills with the ability to manage different temperaments in pets.
- Knowledge of pet care practices, including feeding, grooming, and basic health monitoring.
- Familiarity with kennel operations and procedures is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) as part of daily responsibilities.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members.
- Compassionate demeanor towards animals, demonstrating patience and understanding in all interactions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $16.00 per hour
