The Medical Imaging Specialist is responsible to produce high quality, diagnostic radiographs in addition to CT Scans, and X-Ray screens or other skills as acquired by certification and or training of Medical Imaging services. This position remains an active part of the daily workload of the department including but not limited to covering rotating, on call and weekend shifts. The Specialist shall represent the Medical Imaging Department in a professional and friendly manner. The Medical Imaging Specialists purpose is patient care, to include delivery of exceptional quality diagnostic services, care, understanding, and comfort of the patient and family or friends.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs daily tasks of completing patient paperwork, filing, QA, cleaning equipment and record keeping.
- Follows all patient safety standards.
- Completes quality control activities, monitors equipment operation and reports malfunctioning equipment to manager.
- Coordinates with Physicians, Radiologist, and other healthcare team members, to include providing assistance during invasive procedures.
- Explains exam procedures to patients, patient representatives, or family members in accordance with HIPAA.
- Conducts inventories to maintain stock of clinical supplies.
- Performs clerical duties, such as scheduling exams or special procedures, maintaining records, or archiving computerized images.
- Follows the on-call schedule, assuming prompt and efficient care and continuity of service
- Assists with all duties as assigned.
- Maintains knowledge of and follows proper professional standards for positioning, ionizing radiation exposure, and processing, patient care to produce quality diagnostic images.
- Performs high quality acceptable diagnostic CT Scans.
- Ensures and cooperates with a high degree of interpersonal communication with Radiologists as to positioning, ionization, quality and performance of CT Scans.
- Assists with any other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Good interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, families, and all health care professionals and TVHC staff
- Basic knowledge in computer use; including word processing and spreadsheet applications
- Excellent organizational and accuracy skills with attention to fine details
- Ability to maintain and follow guidelines set for standards of practice in quality patient care, and infection control practices as required by federal, state, and hospital regulation/policy
- CPR/BLS Healthcare Certification
- ARRT Certification
- Experience in X-Ray and CT
- Additional languages – Spanish preferred
