GENERAL OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible for ensuring that healthcare construction projects are completed in alignment with enterprise strategies and priorities. Successful projects must be managed to ensure that designs address intended objectives, particularly to support unrivaled patient care and efficient business operations. Coordination of multiple projects occurring on a single site, or across multiple sites, is necessary to balance resources and maintain effective communications across a wide range of stakeholders. In the healthcare environment, it is essential construction projects honor process, building codes, facility guidelines, safety protocols, and regulations.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform management responsibilities to include, but are not limited to: involved in hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity. Plan, organize, staff, direct and control the day-to-day operations of the department; develop and implement policies and programs as necessary; may have budgetary responsibility and authority.
Oversee the process of planning complex construction and installation projects, including estimating, scheduling, sequencing, procurement, communications, infrastructure coordination, jurisdictional approvals, construction, commissioning, testing, training, and documentation. Ensure AHN standards and project-specific requirements are correctly reflected in purchasing agreements and contract documents.
Manages, motivates, develops, and leads a team of Construction Project Managers and Coordinators.
Engages directly with senior leadership to create a facility master plan and development roadmap, which defines a long-term vision for organization and functionality of one or more hospital campuses.
Works closely with hospital facility management to coordinate construction requirements with existing building infrastructure, ensuring that building systems function as intended before, during, and after construction.
Ensures that designs and construction processes respect operational norms and efficiencies. Engages with operational leaders to understand key requirements and ideal operational outcomes, and ensures project designs are optimized to achieve the intended outcomes. Prepares recommendations to senior AHN leaders based on evaluation of available options for design, logistics, and construction. Supports development of presentations to hospital and AHN leadership, especially to summarize and defend recommendations.
Evaluates scopes of work and proposals carefully prior to approval of new commitments. Validates that proposals include a complete scope of work at market-competitive prices. Proposals include RFP responses, GMPs, change orders, and quotes for materials, equipment, and services. Supports procurement of professional services, including design and construction, as well as procurement of materials and equipment. Verifies compliance with procurement standards.
Manages project timing, pace, and scope to align with financial constraints, and is accountable as a steward of AHN’s capital. Carefully evaluates uses of capital to ensure best value and appropriate application as compared to intended project goals.
Facilitates the completion of construction work in a manner that furthers the department's reputation for performance and value, especially by exceeding expectations for quality, cost, duration, communication, interruptions, and professionalism.

Q UALIFICATIONS:
Required
5 years in Management or leadership role
10 years' experience with Project management or equivalent role
5 years in Healthcare industry engagement as an employee, consultant, or similar
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, interior design, engineering, construction management or a similarly pertinent field of study.
SKILLS:
Expertise in coordinating construction projects and major medical equipment installations
Expertise in the competitive procurement of services, equipment, fixtures, furniture, and/or equipment for construction projects
Proficiency managing large, complex projects
Very good organizational and planning skills
Proficiency with industry standard project management softwares and systems
Very good verbal and written communication skills
Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills, especially relative to matters of design, construction, logistics, engineering, etc.
Excellent financial management skills, including project budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, etc.
Excellent customer service skills
Dependability and professionalism
