The Pacific Northwest Shop is a second-generation family-owned retail business started in Tacoma in 1978. Our Seattle store is located in the historic Wallingford neighborhood and specializes in locally made merchandise including home decor, jewelry, food, books, clothing, bath products, paper goods, and children’s items.
We're looking for an enthusiastic and dependable individual with a strong team mentality to join our staff. Providing exceptional customer service is a must. Our staff is the face of our business, responsible for greeting customers and making them feel welcome in the store.
Our staff is entrusted with all activities involved in the daily operations of the store. Attention to detail is extremely important. Beyond the usual sales activities, this includes merchandising, stocking, maintenance, and cleaning activities. Responsibilities include opening and closing duties as well as cash handling. We're open seven days a week and all members are asked to be available both during the week and on weekends.
These are the qualities we're looking for in a candidate:
- Friendly, outgoing, and easy to talk to
- A team player willing to step into any role as assigned
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds as well as go up and down a ladder with ease
- Take direction well and show initiative.
- Comfortable staying on your feet for 5-hour shifts
- Comfortable interacting with customers face to face as well as on the phone
- Strong speaking and customer service skills required
- Comfortable working in the store alone for extended periods
- Attentive to detail
- Strong merchandising skills
- Gift wrapping experience
- Comfortable working with a POS system and basic computer skills
- Open availability including weekdays, weekends, holidays
Previous customer service experience preferred. Job expectations and requirements may evolve over time.
