Shelter Manager (Wed-Sat 6am-4pm)
Kansas City, MO. Rose Brooks Center, a nonprofit domestic violence agency, is currently seeking a full-time Shelter Manager (Wed-Sat 6am-4pm).
This position is responsible for providing supervision and leadership to Shelter Advocates in the provision of services for the residential program and callers on the 24-hour hotline and daily shelter operations. The Shelter Manager ensures advocacy and shelter operations are consistent with Rose Brooks Center’s shelter model of operations, principles of trauma informed care, accessibility, quality assurance indicators and targets for outcomes and productivity. The Shelter Manager partners with the Director of Residential Services on quality programming and improvements. This position works with other internal staff, leaders, and community partners in providing residential services.
OTHER ASPECTS OF THE POSITION:
- Perform all job responsibilities in accordance with agency polices and procedures, while demonstrating proficiency in all RBC competencies and utilizing the principles of trauma informed care, and accessibility; demonstrates a commitment to the overall mission of Rose Brooks Center.
- Attend scheduled staff, team, and supervision meetings.
- Participate in all required trainings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in human/social services and/or related field and/or commensurate combination of education and experience
- Minimum one year of supervisory and/or leadership experience and/or commensurate combination of education/experience
- Experience with effective handling of hotline calls, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution
- Program development/management experience and/or project management experience
- Thorough knowledge of best practices and domestic violence dynamics
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service, team-building and innovative problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability for open communication, collaboration, and relationship-building
- Excellent time management, organizational skills, and strong computer skills
- Valid driver’s license and car insurance with an ability to meet Rose Brooks Center’s driving requirements
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
- Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of two years’ advocacy and/or case management experience in a domestic violence shelter highly preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
HOURS:
The shelter operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. A minimum of 40 hours per week, primarily scheduled Wednesday through Saturday 6am to 4pm. Flexibility is needed to meet the ongoing needs of the shelter, including occasional overnight and day hours, as well as periodic on-call rotation and some holidays.
COMPENSATION:
This position falls into an exempt range starting at an annual salary of $50,000.
