This position is a member of our Water Quality Division.


HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Manage activities related to the wastewater permitting program, assuring all permits are processed according to water quality standards and good engineering practices for the Water Quality Division of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
  • Manage the Domestic Wastewater Section, which includes domestic permits, engineering and domestic reuse, as well, as the pretreatment program, assuring compliance with applicable rules, regulations and agency policies, including the Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) program provisions of the Texas Water Code and the Clean Water Act.
  • Complete and/or oversee personnel management functions, including interviewing, hiring and developing staff, performance management, etc.
  • Assist management in the evaluation of implications to new developments and proposed legislation as they impact division operations. Serve as the agency spokesperson for the wastewater programs of the Water Quality Division.
  • Provide technical expertise for rule development activities and lead the development of policy and rules; provide testimony in contested cases or legislative hearings as needed; and coach and mentor Team Leaders and technical staff in the development of technical, expert testimony.
  • Manage the section budget, developing and implementing processes to assure sufficient resources and expenditures.
Qualifications


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in the management of a business function, division, or department relevant to assignment.

OR

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in a field relevant to assignment.

Work Schedule

Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Water Quality Division.
