Business Systems Analyst
Job description
Build the systems behind a growing renewable energy retailer
At Lodestone Energy we build grid-scale solar farms and sells the electricity we generate to business, residential and wholesale customers across New Zealand. We're growing fast, and we want to reshape how energy is produced, sold and experienced in this country.
Our retail business is in a major growth phase. We've built a modern, digital-first operation, and we're now looking for someone to help it scale. We want it to run smarter, rely less on manual work and make the most of what AI can do.
The role
This is a hands-on role at the centre of our energy retail operation, working closely with the operations team and reporting to the GM Customer. You'll be:
- The go-to person for our systems. When something isn't working, you'll be the first port of call. You'll triage the issue, find the root cause and work with our vendors and ICT to get it fixed.
- The translator between people and technology. You'll sit with the team to understand how they work and what they need, then turn that into clear requirements.
- A builder as well as an analyst. You'll configure and build changes yourself in tools like Zoho CRM and Zoho Creator, or scope and manage external vendors to deliver them.
- Our automation and AI lead for operations. You'll find practical opportunities and help deliver them. The work covers Voice AI, chatbots, generative AI and low-code workflows, from testing through to rollout and improvement.
- A trusted partner to our vendors. You'll manage day-to-day relationships, keep delivery on track and make sure what we get matches what we need.
You'll work across a modern technology stack that includes Zoho CRM, Zoho Books, Zoho Creator, Robotron, Azure Data Lake and HERO Telephony. You'll work alongside our Data Engineer, who looks after reporting and analytics, so your focus stays on systems, process and automation.
Why join us
- Get in on the growth. We're at a stage where your work will shape how the business runs for years to come. Growing companies create growing roles.
- Do work that matters. Every customer we bring on supports the decarbonisation of New Zealand's energy system.
- Work on AI properly. This isn't AI as a buzzword. You'll put real tools into production and see the impact on customers and the team.
- Have real influence. We're small enough that your ideas get heard and acted on quickly, without layers of approval.
- Work flexibly. This is generally an office based role, however we embrace work flexibility including hybrid options that work for you and the team.
About you
You enjoy understanding how things work, then making them work better. You're as comfortable in a workshop with the operations team as you are reading API logs or briefing a vendor. You'll likely bring:
- Business analysis experience, including process mapping, requirements, user stories and user acceptance testing
- Experience supporting CRM, billing or customer platforms, ideally in retail, utilities or another high-volume customer environment
- Confidence managing vendors or implementation partners to deliver system changes
- Enough SQL and understanding of APIs to trace records and get to the bottom of issues
- Hands-on exposure to workflow automation, low-code or AI tools, plus the judgement to test them properly
- Great communication skills and a collaborative, can-do attitude
Experience with Zoho, energy retail, or Voice AI and chatbots is a bonus but not essential. If you have most of this and the curiosity to learn the rest, we'd love to hear from you.
