Summary

The Senior Contracts Administrator is an experienced Contracts Administration professional responsible for providing expert-level contract administration and support to assigned customer companies. This position serves as a subject matter expert on assigned customer contracts and provides guidance on contract requirements, compliance, modifications, funding, performance, and other contractual matters throughout the contract lifecycle.

The Senior Contracts Administrator independently manages complex contracts and serves as a trusted resource to assigned customer companies and internal teams. The position requires the ability to interpret and apply contractual requirements, identify potential risks and issues, and provide clear, practical guidance to support successful contract performance.

The ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of Government contracting and demonstrates strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple complex contracts while maintaining a high level of customer service and responsiveness.

Job Description and

Responsibilities

The Senior Contracts Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration and oversight of assigned customer contracts from award through completion and closeout. This position serves as a primary Contracts Administration resource for assigned customer companies and works closely with Program Management, Finance, Operations, Business Development, and other internal teams to ensure contractual requirements are understood and appropriately administered.

The Senior Contracts Administrator reviews and interprets contracts, modifications, solicitations, contract clauses, and other contractual documents; monitors key contractual requirements; and provides guidance regarding contract compliance and performance.

The position is expected to independently manage multiple contracts and competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The Senior Contracts Administrator proactively identifies contractual risks, upcoming requirements, and potential issues and communicates them to the appropriate parties.

The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of Government contracting and the ability to apply that knowledge to practical day-to-day contract administration. This individual must be comfortable working independently, exercising sound contractual judgment, and communicating complex contractual requirements in a clear and understandable manner.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Administration & Compliance

  • Serve as a Contracts Administration subject matter expert for assigned customer companies.
  • Independently administer assigned customer contracts from contract award through completion and closeout.
  • Review and interpret contracts, modifications, solicitations, amendments, contract clauses, and other contractual documents.
  • Identify and communicate contractual requirements, obligations, risks, and potential impacts to assigned customer companies.
  • Monitor contract periods of performance, funding, ceilings, option periods, contract line items, deliverables, reporting requirements, and other key contractual milestones.
  • Interpret and apply the FAR, applicable agency supplements, contract clauses, and customer-specific contractual requirements.
  • Review and administer contract modifications, including funding actions, changes to scope, periods of performance, labor categories, contract line items, and other contractual changes.
  • Monitor contract performance and proactively identify upcoming actions, deadlines, and potential areas of concern.
  • Identify contractual compliance issues and provide recommendations for resolution or appropriate escalation.
  • Ensure contract files and records are complete, accurate, current, and maintained in accordance with company requirements.
  • Support contract closeout activities and ensure required documentation and actions are completed timely.
  • Maintain awareness of changes to applicable regulations, contractual requirements, and government contracting practices.

Customer Company Support

  • Serve as a trusted Contracts Administration advisor to assigned customer companies.
  • Develop strong working relationships with customer company leadership, Program Managers, Finance, Operations, and other internal personnel.
  • Provide clear and practical guidance regarding contractual requirements and obligations.
  • Assist customer companies in understanding and managing contract requirements throughout the period of performance.
  • Participate in contract reviews, customer meetings, and other activities requiring Contracts Administration expertise.
  • Respond to contract-related questions and provide timely recommendations and solutions.
  • Help customer companies identify contractual risks before they become performance, compliance, or financial issues.
  • Escalate significant contractual risks, compliance concerns, and other matters requiring management attention.

Contract Modifications & Lifecycle Management

  • Review proposed modifications and assess contractual, operational, and financial impacts.
  • Coordinate the administrative processing of contract modifications and ensure required approvals and documentation are obtained.
  • Monitor modification status and communicate impacts and effective dates to appropriate internal personnel.
  • Track contract funding, option exercises, extensions, changes, and other lifecycle events.
  • Ensure contract information is accurately reflected in applicable systems and internal records.
  • Assist with contract transition activities, including new awards, novations, transfers, extensions, and closeout.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Proactively identify contractual risks and potential compliance issues.
  • Review contract terms and clauses for requirements that may affect company operations, billing, reporting, purchasing, security, property, travel, or other areas of performance.
  • Assist with evaluating the contractual impact of proposed business or operational decisions.
  • Support internal reviews, audits, and compliance assessments involving assigned contracts.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation supporting contract administration decisions and actions.
  • Escalate matters when contractual interpretation, risk, or potential financial exposure exceeds established authority.

Knowledge Sharing & Process Improvement

  • Serve as a technical resource and knowledge-sharing partner within the Contracts Administration team.
  • Share lessons learned, best practices, and contract administration guidance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve contract administration processes, procedures, templates, and controls.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining Contracts Administration guidance and training materials.
  • Support implementation and effective use of contract lifecycle management and other contract administration systems.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives designed to increase consistency, visibility, compliance, and efficiency.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Contracts Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in Government contract administration.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Contracts Administration principles and practices.
  • Strong working knowledge of the FAR and applicable agency supplements as they relate to contract administration and contract performance.
  • Experience independently administering complex Government contracts.
  • Experience with multiple contract types, including Firm-Fixed-Price, Time-and-Materials, Cost-Reimbursement, and/or Indefinite-Delivery/Indefinite-Quantity contracts.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and interpreting contracts, modifications, solicitations, contract clauses, and other contractual documents.
  • Experience administering contract modifications, funding actions, option periods, periods of performance, contract line items, and other contractual changes.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify contractual risks and provide practical recommendations for addressing them.
  • Strong understanding of the government contract lifecycle from award through closeout.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to independently manage multiple contracts, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to exercise sound contractual judgment and appropriately escalate issues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification such as Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM), Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM), or similar.
  • Experience supporting small businesses and/or 8(a) government contractors.
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint or similar government contracting systems.
  • Experience with contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems.
  • Experience supporting government contract audits, reviews, or compliance assessments.
  • Experience with contract administration for multiple customer companies or business units.
  • Experience developing or delivering Contracts Administration training.

Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have enough mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. May include lifting weigh up to thirty (30) pounds, as necessary.

Location/Work Schedule:

This is a remote work-from-home position. While the role offers flexibility, the Contracts Administrator – Senior Level is expected to be available during standard business hours and maintain a dedicated workspace. Occasionally, this position may require support outside of regular hours, including early mornings or evenings, to meet critical deadlines or business needs.

Salary Range:

$85,000 - $1000,000.00
