This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Contracts Administrator – Senior Level based in the United States.
The Senior Contracts Administrator will oversee complex government contracts throughout their entire lifecycle, from award and administration to modification and closeout. This remote opportunity is ideal for an experienced contracts professional with advanced knowledge of federal contracting regulations, strong contractual judgment, and a proactive approach to risk management. You will serve as a trusted advisor to assigned customer companies, translating complex contractual requirements into clear, practical guidance that supports compliance, operational efficiency, and successful contract performance. Working closely with program management, finance, operations, and other stakeholders, you will manage competing priorities, monitor contractual obligations, and identify potential risks before they escalate. You will also contribute to process improvements, knowledge sharing, and best practices that strengthen contract administration across multiple customer organizations.
Accountabilities
- Independently manage assigned government contracts from award through performance, completion, and closeout.
- Review and interpret contracts, solicitations, amendments, modifications, clauses, and other contractual documents to identify obligations, risks, and potential business impacts.
- Apply the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), applicable agency supplements, and customer-specific requirements to support contractual compliance.
- Monitor contract periods of performance, funding levels, ceiling values, option periods, contract line items, deliverables, reporting obligations, and key milestones.
- Administer contract modifications, including funding adjustments, scope changes, labor category updates, extensions, option exercises, and other contractual actions.
- Evaluate proposed contractual changes for operational, financial, and compliance implications, coordinating approvals, documentation, processing, and communication with relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date contract files, records, and system information, ensuring required documentation is available for audits and reviews.
- Serve as a primary contracts advisor to assigned customer companies, providing timely, practical recommendations and clear explanations of contractual obligations.
- Build effective working relationships with customer leadership, program managers, finance, operations, and other cross-functional teams.
- Proactively identify contractual, financial, compliance, and performance risks, recommend appropriate solutions, and escalate significant issues when necessary.
- Support contract transitions, including new awards, novations, transfers, extensions, and closeout activities.
- Assist with internal reviews, audits, and compliance assessments, maintaining documentation that supports contract administration decisions.
- Monitor developments in government contracting regulations and practices to maintain current knowledge and support compliant contract performance.
- Share technical expertise, lessons learned, and best practices with the contracts administration team.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve processes, procedures, templates, controls, training materials, and contract lifecycle management systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Contracts Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- At least 6 years of progressively responsible experience in government contract administration.
- Advanced knowledge of contract administration principles, federal contracting practices, the FAR, and applicable agency supplements.
- Demonstrated experience independently administering complex government contracts and managing multiple agreements, priorities, and deadlines.
- Experience working with multiple contract types, including Firm-Fixed-Price, Time-and-Materials, Cost-Reimbursement, and/or Indefinite-Delivery/Indefinite-Quantity contracts.
- Proven ability to review and interpret contractual documents, solicitations, modifications, clauses, funding actions, option periods, periods of performance, and contract line items.
- Strong understanding of the government contract lifecycle, from award through closeout.
- Demonstrated ability to identify contractual risks, assess potential operational and financial impacts, and recommend practical solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex contractual requirements to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills, combined with exceptional attention to detail.
- Sound contractual judgment, independent ownership of responsibilities, and the ability to recognize when issues require escalation.
- A customer-focused, collaborative approach, with the ability to build trusted relationships and provide responsive support.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Ability to work remotely from a dedicated workspace and remain available during standard business hours, with occasional early morning or evening support when critical deadlines or business needs require it.
- Ability to perform computer-based work and remain seated or standing for extended periods. The role may also require bending, reaching, kneeling, and occasionally lifting up to 30 pounds.
- Preferred: Professional certification such as Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM), Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM), or an equivalent credential.
- Preferred: Experience supporting small businesses, 8(a) government contractors, multiple customer companies, or business units.
- Preferred: Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint or similar government contracting systems, contract lifecycle management (CLM) platforms, and government contract audits or compliance assessments.
- Preferred: Experience developing or delivering contracts administration training and guidance.
- Annual salary range of $85,000–$100,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
