About the Position
As the Founding Operations Director, you will lead the high performing team that coordinates Buffalo Commons’ daily business activities. By creating and implementing a sound operational plan and regularly evaluating organizational efficiency, you will develop sustainable practices that ensure a smooth running school where all students have the opportunity to excel. The Operations Director reports to the Executive Director.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Operations Responsibilities
- Leads all aspects of school operations, including facilities, food and transportation services, school schedules, rosters, student information database, visitors, payroll, and benefits
- Manages operations staff and ensures the smooth operation of the main office
- Ensures school-wide compliance with health and safety laws, charter contracts, state education mandates, teacher certification, and federal and state workplace regulations
- Uses data to drive improvements in systems and operations throughout the school community
- Leads student recruitment efforts to ensure fiscal solvency of the school
- Collaborates with our Information Technology vendor to ensure a fully functioning technology infrastructure
- Assists in creating and overseeing the school’s budget, finances, and relationships with outside vendors
School Leadership Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the Leadership Team to build a joyful and rigorous school culture
- Supports staff and faculty in fostering consistency in academic and behavioral expectations
- Ensures that traditions and rituals that support the mission are built and maintained
About You
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a related field
- Expert organizational skills with a fine-tuned attention to detail
- Project planning experience with proven ability to see large projects through to completion
- High quality communications skills with multiple audiences including teachers, students, families, vendors, and colleagues
- Two years of relevant experience with demonstrable success in a similar role in education or nonprofit sector (preferred)
