Provides a variety of secretarial and paraprofessional tasks in support of one 0or more major functional areas; and performs other related duties as required.Minimum Qualification Requirements

Note: Calculation of experience is based on full-time, 40-hour work weeks. Part-time experience must be pro-rated. Example: Twelve months of experience at 20 hours per week is equivalent to six months of experience. In addition, hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week will not be credited. Example: Twelve months of experience at 60 hours per week is equivalent to one year, not one and one-half years.
Training and Experience: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school, including or supplemented by course work in typing or keyboarding, and four (4) years of substantive clerical, secretarial or administrative work experience.
Knowledge of: organization and functions of departments and agencies of the County of Kauai; pertinent functions of County, State and Federal agencies; public relations; office practices and procedures; filing methods and systems; grammar, spelling and word usage; use of standard office machines.
Ability to: deal tactfully and effectively with the public; work harmoniously with others; conduct research, gather information, summarize materials, and prepare reports; transcribe notes accurately; operate a personal computer and use word processing applications; maintain records and files; make arithmetic computations; understand and interpret laws, ordinances and regulations; give and follow oral and written instructions.
Health and Physical Condition: Persons seeking appointment to positions in this class must meet the health and physical condition standards deemed necessary and proper for performance of the duties.

*Substitution of Education for Experience*
An AS degree in Secretarial Science or OATS from an accredited business school or community college may be substituted for two (2) years of clerical experience.
