Parks/Tygart Lake State Park/Taylor County Under general supervision, at the full-performance level, an employee in this class shall function as a Lodge Desk Clerk at Tygart Lake State Park. Duties include but are not limited to: checks guests in and out of state owned and operated recreation facilities; assists in the daily operation of the reservations desk; receives and processes reservations and cancellations by mail, phone, internet or in person; registers guests upon arrival; enters reservations through Room-master and processes internet reservations through Inntopia; uses and monitors the Camp-life reservation system to enter campground reservations and perform gift shop sales; oversees and assigns inventory entry and maintenance including generating SKU#s for gift shop inventory; performs regular counts and upkeep of the gift shop and retail items. Writes daily and/or weekly reports to the Superintendent as needed to communicate front desk operational concerns and other related reports. Will oversee and coordinate work of other seasonal Lodge Desk Clerks. Responsible for training new front desk employees in all shifts. May be required to work with other employees for coaching purposes during their shifts. Ensures conference room setups are correct and on time. Performs group sales and bookings and coordinates food service with the concessionaire restaurant operation for group sales events, monitors group block release dates, responsible for group billings and payments. Performs housekeeping duties at front desk office, lobby areas, and public restrooms as needed. Performs housekeeping for guest rooms only as needed during employee shortages. Responsible for altering front desk schedules to accommodate requests for time off or call offs and if needed, is required to work any shift of this 24-hour operation. Attends weekly section meetings and forwards new information to the entire front desk staff. Responsible for all direct bill transactions. Works as Receptionist for public relations and park information and therefore must learn park rules and regulations which may involve interpretation and application of policies and practices within the authority delegated by the Park Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent. Works to increase ADR (Average Daily Rate) by limiting discounts given; works closely with Maintenance Supervisor, Restaurant Manager, Activities Coordinator and Housekeeping Supervisor by meeting face to face, telephone, email or two way radios. Individual shall be self-motivated and detail oriented. Monitors other front desk employee reservations to ensure proper completion of all reservations; efficiently handles customer satisfaction complaints to a positive outcome; should work well with minimal oral and written direction; and should work well with the public. Job duties may reduce or increase as determined by the Superintendent at any time. Performs other duties as assigned. Regular attendance is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Training: Education equivalent to graduation from a four-year high school.

Experience: No previous experience necessary.

Substitution: A combination of completion of the eighth grade and one year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in retail sales or reservation/registration-desk-related work may substitute for the training.
